With 6 holes to go and 4 down, Heidelberg Head Pro Luke Young and partner David Tapping scrambled their way to victory to advance through the PGA Match Play. Playing at the beautiful Metropolitan Golf Course located in the Melbourne sandbelt, conditions were good but the four high level PGA Professionals found it tough to get going.

Playing against quality opposition in Stuart Leong and Craig Finch, David and Luke found themselves in trouble early as neither of them could click in to gear. Team moral was low and both players continued to look at each other for answers as Stuart and Craig took an early lead. With 6 holes to go, Luke and David were silenced as Stuart and Craig were confident they had this game in the bag taking a 4 UP lead. But fortunes would change as Luke and David found their groove as Stuart and Craigs form started to slip.

Luke went on the Par the 13th hole, birdie the 14th and half the 15th to take the match back to a 2 down with 3 left to play. David then stepped up to the plate getting a nice up and down on 16 for Par to halve the hole, and a birdie at 17 to win another hole to take the match to 1 down with only 1 hole left to play.

With Stuart and Craig now feeling the pressure after quickly letting a 4UP lead slip, David and Luke stood confidently on the 18th with silence now turned into constant banter as they let their opponents know about their demise. Taking full advantage, Luke then made a birdie on 18 to take the match to extra holes.

The extra holes would be played starting on the 10th hole with both pairings making par to halve and move on to the Par 3 11th. After hitting a beautiful tee shot, Luke was up, and had a birdie opportunity that was almost identical to a putt he had on this hole earlier in the round. A 10 foot slippery putt that he needed 3 putts to knock in earlier was now ahead of him. With a cheeky "you remember this putt don't you" from David, Luke confidently responded with "I know it, and I feel good about it". Backing it up, Luke would roll the putt in, make birdie and take the match.

The comeback was complete and Luke and David would now progress to face his right hand man Tom Howarth and Sam Hingeley in the next round.
