K.H. Lee wins the AT&T Bryon Nelson in trying conditions over Sam Burns.
Playing in the last group with Burns, Lee took over the lead on the 3rd hole after birding the 2nd and 3rd and never looked back from there.
Lee reeled off 5 birdies and one bogey on the front nine and was in control of the tournament.
As Lee was on his way to his first PGA Tour professional win, the weather rolled in and on his 16th hole they sounded the siren. After a 2 ½ hour weather delay the Lee came back out and missed his 15 foot putt for par and left the door ajar for Burns.
That all changed on his next swing as Lee stepped up to the par 3 17th hole and knocked it within 4 feet. He finished birdie, birdie winning the tournament by 3 shots over Burns.
"Long day for me, I think everybody,'' said Lee, who was greeted just off the 18th green by countryman K.J. Choi, an eight-time tour winner who lives in the Dallas area. "I mean, but I just try keep patient and positive thinking.'' “I (didn’t) want to look on the leaderboard,” Lee said. “I'm very excited and happy.”
With victory Lee earns the final spot in the PGA Championship next week.
