Presenting the Srixon Z785 Driver, the Driver used by Shane Lowry to win this year's Open Championship.
Srixon are saying that the Z 785 Driver is 460cc with a tour preferred look and profile. It promotes the low-spin, penetrating trajectory that better players demand off the tee.
So, let's take a look for ourselves.....
First look standing over the ball, it's not hugely appealing to my eye. To me it looks pinched back to the point of having a triangle resemblence, but let's test it and see how it performs.
Utilizing Flightscope launch monitor technology we began our test, from the initial first impact, this driver felt good. It had a higher pitch sound and felt solid through the ball.
The Srixon Z 785 was tested using the same spec shaft i currently game (75G X Flex) and performed extremely well, Average Carry being 251m whcih is slightly longer than my Callaway Epic Sub Zero. Spin numbers were also good with an average of 2500rpm.
Overall, the Srixon Z 785 Driver performed extremely well when tested but i personally wouldnt game it on looks alone. The price point itself though makes it intriguing as it is $200 aud cheaper than most premium drivers on the market. Therefore my recommendation is that you go out and test this driver yourself as it performs extremely well and if you like the look of it, then it may just be the driver that suits your game.
