Scotty Cameron has always lead the way when it comes to premium putters. Known not only for their popularity in amateur golf, but of course their incredible winning record professional tours across the globe. The likes of Adam Scott, Jordan Speith, Brooks Koepka and of course Tiger Woods have made themselves Major Champions with a Scotty Cameron at their disposal. Their ability to hold, and even go up in value over time, a rarity in the golf industry, is also a testament to their timeless design and revolutionary technology.
The new range of Champions Choice putters in somewhat of a celebration to their winning past. The bronze Teryllium face insert gives the new line a classic look. A design that we remember mostly from Tiger’s famous win at Augusta in 1997. The button-back look has also been reintroduced, each button is in fact a screw to help hold the insert in place.
This new range features three different models, the Newport Button Back, Newport 2 Button Back and the Flowback 5.5 Button Back, each with milled 303 stainless steel and the Teryllium insert in the face. Each putter has also been constructed with a vibration dampening material between the face insert and the body which helps to give a premium sound and feel at contact, another piece of technology we haven’t seen before in a public release putter.
The Newport and Newport 2 shows us the classic blade style, similar to that seen with Koepka, Spieth and Woods. This timeless design also features adjustable Tungsten weights on the back of the head. The third and final model, the Flowback 5.5 is a slightly less traditional design. It has the rounded profile, and slant neck hosel, inspires by the prototype putters made for players on the professional Tours.
Here’s what Scotty Cameron had to say in their press release, “We’ve had a very good run over the past 25 years with Tour victories, and major championships in particular. After the incredible response we received from the Teryllium T22 Limited Release, and with back-to-back U.S. Open wins (from Brooks Koepka) with a button back, I had the idea for Champions Choice as a way to bring back the Button Back, but in a new, modern way.”.
The limited release is scheduled to drop on August the 6th
